Bridging the Gap Between Hospitals and Senior Living Communities

cls | June 1, 2010

I had the pleasure of interviewing Ron Henry, Chief Development Office for North Fulton Hospital and Kamela Sooknanan, RN Associate Administrator of Clinical Quality Improvement for North Fulton Hospital.

Both Ron and Kamela have work diligently to increase the quality of care for the senior patients who enter into care at North Fulton Hospital.

We met to discuss an outreach program that they have developed to bridge the lines of communications between the hospital and the senior living communities that serve the patients being admitted to North Fulton Hospital.

The outreach program is 3 pronged:

1. Care Transitions Task Force-which is made up of clinical representatives from a senior community. North Fulton is currently seeking more communities to become involved in the task force. If your community is interest in becoming involved in the solution to care for seniors please contact Kamela Sooknanan at (770) 751-2973 or email to kamela.sooknanan@tenethealth.com.
2. Senior Care Network
3. ACE Unit

To learn details about each of the three components to this cutting edge approach to senior care, be sure to watch the video…

Adequate Accommodations

As I sit on the beach in Delray Florida, I can’t help but notice the massive amount of retirees who dwell here.  My family had lunch at a local restaurant and there was a group of retired men huddling in the back.  It must have been at least 20 of them, laughing and joking around.  [...]

“Confessions of a Serial Visitor” (How Joining the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Impacted My Business)

cls | March 29, 2010

Yes, I confess, I would frequent chamber events.  I knew the rules…  You are allowed to visit a few times but eventually you would need to join.  So I would lay low for a few months and then pop back up again.  What was the deal?  Why was it so hard for me to take [...]

Economic “Spring Time”

This weather is driving me crazy. Warm, cold, cold, warm, make up your mind already!! Just when you think you can put away the winter clothes, the temperature drops again. Much like the climate we deal with in the physical realm, the economic climate has been equally unpredictable. The cold weather in the South East [...]

Approved at last!!

cls | March 16, 2010

Banks have historically been on the front line of small-business lending. Unfortunately that has not been the case as of late.  However, there are still some amazing things happening.  Here in Atlanta, we were able to secure funding for a local restaurant owner to purchase a foreclosed property that was across the street from a [...]
