“Trying to stay in business sale”

I was picking the kids up from school the other day and as I was waiting on the light to turn green, I saw a sign that read “Trying to Stay in Business Sale”. I was expecting the sign to read “Going Out of Business Sale”, like so many others. But this one was indeed different. If I had a need and the money to spend, they would have made a sell that day. It was encouraging to know that I am not in this fight alone. After seeing that sign, I was compelled to take a look at my own business. What am I doing to stay in business? Have I cut costs where I can? Have I added a new product or service? Have I increased my prices?? The answer is yes!! I have… I wish I could tell you that it has made a grand difference, but it hasn’t. What I can tell you is that I am still in business. And everyday, I become keenly aware that more and more small businesses are not.
Please share with us some of the things you have personally done to stay in business.
I hung up my hat over a year ago, but despite this fact my Father continued. Providing the best service he can and going where ever he was needed. He actually ended up doing remarkable well considering he had no support. It truly is encouraging to see what perservance and faith can do.

At our business, we’ve done our best to lower spending as much as possible. For instance, we’ve lowered our budgets hugely for paid search advertising and focused instead on bringing in clients via search engine optimization. Not that seo isn’t expensive, but the return-on-investment is usually higher. We’ve got everyone pitching in to help.
